This Privacy Policy explains what personal information PeerInvoice, a business based in the State of Texas ("PeerInvoice", "we", "us") collects through peerinvoice.com and app.peerinvoice.com (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the Service you agree to this Policy.
1. Information we collect
Account information. Your name, email address, password (stored only as a hash), state, time zone, display preferences, and, if you add them, your business (DBA) name and brand logo.
Content you create. Invoices and line items, client names and email addresses, agreements and project details, and the payment handles you choose to show on invoices (for example your Cash App, Venmo or PayPal.Me handle). If you add information about your clients, you are responsible for having the right to do so.
Signatures. When a client signs an agreement we record their typed name, initials, signing time and IP address.
Billing information. If you subscribe to Pro, Stripe collects and processes your payment details and billing address. We receive and store limited information from Stripe: a customer ID, subscription status, card brand and last four digits. We do not store your full card number.
Technical information. IP address, browser and device type, pages visited, and server logs. We use cookies that are needed to keep you signed in and protect forms (a session cookie and a security token). We do not use advertising cookies.
Messages. Emails or messages you send to us.
2. How we use information
- Provide, secure and maintain the Service, including showing invoices and agreements to the clients you send them to.
- Process subscriptions and calculate taxes through Stripe.
- Send account, security, billing and service emails.
- Respond to support requests, and investigate fraud, abuse and violations of our Terms.
- Improve and develop the Service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context advertising.
3. How we share information
- Your clients. Invoices and agreements you send are visible to the people who have the link, including your name, business name, logo and the payment handles you add.
- Service providers. Companies that help us run the Service: Stripe (payments and tax calculation), Raff (hosting) and our email delivery provider. They may use the information only to perform services for us.
- Legal and safety. When required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, safety and security of users or the Service.
- Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, information may be transferred, and we will tell you if it becomes subject to a different policy.
4. Payments between you and your clients
PeerInvoice does not process or receive your client payments. When a client pays you, they use the third-party app or service you chose, and that service's privacy policy applies to the payment information it collects.
5. Retention
We keep your information while your account is active and as long as needed to provide the Service, comply with law, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements. Signed agreements and invoices may be kept for as long as needed for the records of the parties. When you delete your account we delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable period, except where we must keep it (for example, billing records for tax and accounting).
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including encrypted connections and hashed passwords. No system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
7. Your choices and rights
You can access and update your account information from your profile, and you can delete your account. Depending on where you live (including Texas and California), you may have the right to know what personal information we hold, to request correction or deletion, to obtain a copy, and to appeal a decision about your request. To make a request, email [email protected]. We will verify your identity before acting, and you will not be treated unfairly for using these rights.
If you are a client of one of our users, the freelancer who invoiced you controls the information in your invoice or agreement. Please contact them first for requests about it.
8. Children
The Service is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
9. International use
We operate in the United States. If you use the Service from elsewhere, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy. If changes are material, we will give notice before they take effect, for example by email or in the Service. The effective date above shows the latest version.
